PM Modi leads tributes as legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passes away

India Prime Minister Narendra Modi has led tributes to Lata Mangeshkar after she passed away today at the age of 92.

He took to Twitter to say, “Lata Didi’s songs brought out a variety of emotions. She closely witnessed the transitions of the Indian film world for decades. Beyond films, she was always passionate about India’s growth. She always wanted to see a strong and developed India.”

Mangeshkar was admitted into hospital last month after contracting coronavirus and pneumonia. The singer’s health deteriorated this week and was placed back on to a ventilator.
