Piya Ka Ghar & Reth to end on ZEE TV in Feb

It looks like 2006 has indeed started off on a good note with a lot of spring cleaning in place be it on TV giants ZEE and Sony or the BBC Asian Network. After we announced the end of popular dramas Astitva Ek Prem Kahani on ZEE TV (finishes this Friday), Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi on Sony (finishes next month) and a new schedule on the BBC Asian Network (from April), ZEE TV is axing two more of its long running shows Piya Ka Ghar and Reth. The former has spent the longest on air, Piya Ka Ghar, has been running for the past four years and will see the end of the trials and tribulations of Rimjim’s character, played by Narayani Shastri early next month. Reth on the other hand, has only been on air for over a year, however has seen its ratings drop in recent months. Both Piya Ka Ghar and Reth will end their runs on Friday 10th February. Piya Ka Ghar is being replaced with Paalkhi, which moves from its existing 18:30 slot to 19:30 from Monday 13th February. A brand new drama Mamta (reported here previously) will be making its debut on the channel on the same day and will broadcast daily at 22:00, with a repeat telecast in Paalkhi’s existing 18:30 slot. ZEE TV is already in the process of bumping up its programmes with the launch of Balaji Telefilm’s latest soap Kasamh Se debuting on the channel from this Monday at 20:30 (replacing Astitva Ek Prem Kahani).
