&Pictures braces itself with premieres for UK launch?

Its been a relatively quiet period in the UK for Bollywood movie premieres on television but it seems the lull period is a conscious decision ahead of the Sky platform changes ahead this summer.

As revealed first on BizAsiaLive.com , ZEE Network UK will soon be launching &Pictures (Bollywood movie channel) and ZEE Tamil (Tamil entertainment channel) to increase its market share in this territory. It is rumoured that &Pictures and ZEE Tamil will both join the Sky Original Pack with ZEE TV, ZEE Cinema, ZEE Punjabi, Sony Entertainment Television, Sony MAX, Sony Mix and B4U Movies. However, the actual pack changes are yet to be announced in July.

One thing’s for sure, ZEE Network is planning to position &Pictures differently, so its programming doesn’t clash with sister channel, ZEE Cinema. It is believed, the channel has already snapped up rights to some of the smaller recent movie titles, while ZEE Cinema will focus on the bigger premieres.

&Pictures is expected to premiere the likes of ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’, ‘Trapped’, ‘Samrat & Co’, ‘Commando 2’, ‘Phobia’, ‘Kya Kool Hain Hum 3’ and ‘Machine’. It will also share telecast of movies from the ZEE Cinema library. However, &Pictures is set to packaged in an alternative way to differentiate from other movie channels in the saturated UK market.

&Pictures is expected to launch in the UK this summer.
