On a plea by JuD chief and Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed, a Pakistan court has banned the release of Kabir Khan۪s Phantom۪ today, BizAsia has learnt.

Lahore High Court judge Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan ordered a ban after listening to Saeed۪s counsel۪s plea as well as that of a government officer. Saeed had said the film is filthy propaganda۝ on him. Firstpost reports the judge asking about what can be done about the film’s DVDs being available post it’s official release in India and worldwide, If a movie is banned in cinemas what the government could do to stop it from being available in the market in CDs۝.

The censor board in Pakistan have continually disallowed Indian films which are about Pakistan, terrorism or ISI from being screened in the country. Interestingly, even after a given film releases in India or worldwide, DVDs are available freely in the country.

The film stars Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif and is scheduled for worldwide release on 28th August.
