PETA India slams Priyanka & Nick for using animals at their wedding

Newly weds Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas have been criticised by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), for using animals at their wedding.

Reported on Hindustan Times, PETA slammed the couple for using horses and elephants as part of their traditional Hindu wedding ceremony on Sunday, highlighting the abuse the animals face. PETA tweeted – “Dear @priyankachopra and @nickjonas. Elephants for weddings live and chains and horses are controlled with whips, spiked bits. People are rejecting elephant rides and having horse-free weddings. Congrats, but we regret it was not a happy day for animals.”

Along with their tweet, PETA also shared their campaigning video from 2014, titled – ‘Captive Elephants in Jaipur: PETA India’s 2014 Inspection.’

Following the two day wedding extravaganza in Jodhpur, Chopra and Jonas have since headed to Delhi where they will be holding their wedding reception today. They have yet to comment on the remarks made by PETA.
