PEMRA disregards court orders to restore Geo TV

The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PERMA) has disregarded Supreme Court orders of restoring Geo TV channels on cable networks across Pakistan.

Geo News reports that the broadcaster moved the court against PEMRA after the apex court�۪s orders to restore Geo TV transmission were completely ignored.

On 26th May, the Supreme Court had ordered PEMRA to restore Geo TV channels stating that cable operators did not have the authority to remove or reposition channels. Despite this, PEMRA has failed to take any action to restore Geo TV channels which cannot be seen in 90% of the country.
