‘Peepli Live’ director Mahmood Farooqui acquitted in rape case

BizAsiaLive.com can confirm that Delhi High Court has acquitted Mahmood Farooqui, the director of ‘Peepli Live’, who was sentenced to imprisonment for the alleged rape of a US researcher.

Farooqui was sent to jail for seven years but after a lengthy appeal, he will now be released. The High Court believes that the facts have been altered by the researcher who made the complaint, according to Bollywood Life.

Farooqui was convicted in 2013 under the amended rape act.
