Partial nudity scenes featuring Deepika Padukone removed from ‘Pathaan’

The makers of ‘Pathaan’ have been instructed to delete a number of scenes that have caused uproar in the song ‘Besharam Rang’.

Reports say that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has informed Yash Raj Films to remove or replace close-up shots of Deepika Padukone’s buttocks. Furthermore, the ‘side pose shots in a gold swimsuit’ and visuals of her sensuous dance movements on the lyrics “Bahut tang kiya” will be required to be censored.

A total of 10 cuts have been advised by the CBFC, which will then clear the film for release on 25th January 2023.

CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi said in a statement, “Pathaan went through the due and through examining process as per the CBFC guidelines. The committee has guided the makers to implement the advised changes in the film including the songs and submit the revised version prior to theatrical release. CBFC is always committed to find the right balance between creative expression and sensibility of the audience and believe that we can always find solution through meaningful dialogue between all stakeholders.”

He added, “As far as costume colours are concerned, the committee has stayed unbiased. When the film comes out the reflection of this balanced approach will be clear to everyone.”
