Word is that Karan Johar is in a fix as to who to cast in his production helmed by Punit Malhotra. The I Hate Luv Storys۪ director is on the look out for a leading lady for his next starring Imran Khan in the lead and both Parineeti Chopra and Anushka Sharma seem to fit the bill of an extroverted, bubbly Punjabi character.
“The requirement is of a loud, exuberant, bubbly, middle class Punjabi girl who plays the romantic lead opposite Imran Khan. Karan and Punit are undecided as to who can fit the bill as both look perfect for the part. Apparently Karan has been telling people that he would love to cast Parineeti as she reminds him of a younger Kajol with the same on-screen charisma, and a fiery and bubbly attitude. It’s also a tough choice as both Parineeti and Anushka have played bubbly and extrovertish characters on-screen before – Parineeti in her debut film and Anushka in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi۪ and Ladies vs Ricky Bahl۪,” said a source to the Times of India.
Apart from being in the running for the same role, both Sharma and Chopra have a lot in common. Both were launched under the prestigious Yash Raj banner, and both have more than proved their mettle in their relatively short acting careers.
Currently, it seems Chopra has the edge as she has never been paired with Khan before, where as Sharma will be seen with the dashing hero in Vishal Bhardwaj۪s Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola۪ out later this year.
May the best kudi۪ win we say!
