London’s popular digital-only Punjabi station, Panjab Radio has announced plans to foray into TV later this year.

Panjab Radio will be collaborating with a huge music record label for the new project, which is targeting the Asian youth. The currently untitled channel, will offer the youth of the global Asian audience a one stop shop, offering the latest music releases, lifestyle, sports and entertainment news in exciting quality programming that will appeal to the pan Asian global community.

Surjit Singh Ghuman MBE said, “I am very excited to be planning to launch this new channel, alongside a leading global music channel. Having worked in the Asian media field for over 15 years I am confident that this next business venture will be something that I can really take to another level.”

Mr Ghuman added, “This new channel will provide everything for the modern day youth community, between the ages of 12 to 35.”

The planning of the new TV channel, is still at the negotiation stage, with the vision to air late 2012.

Earlier this month, Panjab Radio became the first commercial Asian radio station to launch a digital application to download on smart phones and tablet devices.
