Panjab Radio launches Alexa skill

Panjab Radio – the UK’s biggest Panjabi radio station – has launched its Alexa skill. The product has been developed by Nation Broadcasting’s in house digital team.

Alexa is Amazon’s voice service and the brain behind tens of millions of devices, including the Echo family of devices including Echo Show and Echo Spot. Alexa provides capabilities, or skills, that enable listeners to create a more personalised experience.

Surjit Singh Ghuman MBE, Managing Director of Panjab Radio said, “We are delighted to be able to provide our listeners with the ability to listen via Amazon’s Alexa devices. Panjab Radio is committed to being available across all devices in a multi-platform world and it’s a great boost for our listeners to be able to access the station by saying ‘Alexa Play Panjab Radio’.”

Nation has now developed Alex as skills for its own stations and also for a number of UK groups and independents. Nation Broadcasting’s Executive Chairman Jason Bryant said ‘Being available via Alexa and other home devices is an essential part of any broadcaster’s platform strategy and we are delighted to be able to provide Surjit and the Panjab Radio team with a great solution’.
