Panjab Radio confirms sale of Asian FX Radio to new buyer

Panjab Radio’s Asian Urban station, Asian FX has ceased broadcasting after its parent company sold it to a new company.

BizAsiaLive.com understands that the the sale was finalised earlier this month. Details of the new buyer have not yet been revealed.

It is said that the new buyer will launch a station, complete with a new brand and format. For any radio station format change, a request needs to be put forward to media regulator Ofcom. The process can take a few months before it is finalised (subject to consultation).

Despite a number of efforts over the years, Asian FX Radio struggled to compete with other radio brands. The station was available on 1584AM in North London, DAB and online.

Panjab Radio continues to broadcast as normal.
