Panjab Radio announces schedule changes in response to coronavirus

Popular London-wide station, Panjab Radio has announced a slew of changes in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

Giving its Punjabi listeners much more clarity on the fast changing developments daily, Panjab Radio has introduced a couple of talk strands to console listeners who maybe feeling isolated during these troubled times.

“In these uncertain times, it is more important than ever for us to stay connected. As a cornerstone of the British Punjabi community, Panjab Radio understands how essential it is to not only keep our listeners informed but also entertained and in-touch with the latest news given in the language they easily understand,” said Managing Director of Panjab Radio, Surjit Singh Ghuman MBE.

With immediate effect, Panjab Radio has launched a phone-in show between 09:00 – 10:00, enabling those who are either in isolation or just feeling isolated a chance to be in contact with the outside world, share their fears, to know they are not alone.

Special prayers for the well-being of the world will be transmitted from 10:00 – 12:00, before Panjab Radio returns to another phone-in strand between 12:00 – 15:00.

The station has also launched a new segment, ‘Chai Chatter’, which will temporarily replace the ‘Drivetime’ slot, giving listeners a chance for some light-hearted banter, great music and more.

A release from the station concluded, “We sincerely hope that our new programming will give our listeners a chance to engage with the current issues facing our society, both in terms of having a voice and listening to others. Although we may have to physically isolate ourselves, we are doing what we can to give the British Punjabi community a chance to stay in-touch and informed.”
