Pallavi Sharda calls Ayushmann Khurrana for ‘Begum Jaan’

Pallavi Sharda stars in this week’s release, ‘Begum Jaan’, and she recently admitted that she’s taken help from Ayushmann Khurrana to get her Punjabi diction right.

Sharda is quoted by Box Office Capsule, speaking at a recent event, “Since my grandmother was born in Hoshiarpur, I know the language well. In spite of living in Australia, at home, we all speak in Hindi. My role in ‘Begum Jaan’ demanded extremely authentic Punjabi. I took help from my father at times while practicing the dialogues.”

She went on to say, “I still felt I needed to get better at it, that’s when I picked up the phone and called Ayushmann to cross check if my Punjabi was authentic, as I was translating Hindi dialogues to Punjabi for a particularly tough scene. The Chandigarh boy – as I call him – used to converse with me in Punjabi on the sets of my last Hindi film, and this time too he made sure I got the nuances right. He is an absolute sweetheart and was great to get confidence from someone who is so proficient in the language”.

‘Begum Jaan’ also stars Vidya Balan, Gauahar Khan, Chunky Panday and Naseeruddin Shah.
