Pakistani comedian Umer Sharif passes away aged 66

Legendary Pakistani comedian, Umer Sharif has passed away, aged 66.

Sharif was battling serious health issues. He left for the USA on 28th September but his deteriorating health, resulted in a stopover in Germany.

Pakistan’s ambassador to Germany, Dr Mohammad Faisal, confirmed the news. He said, “With deep sorrow it is announced that Mr Umer Sharif has passed away in Germany,” he tweeted. “Our deepest condolences to his family and friends. Our CG is present at the hospital to assist the family in every way.”

Sharif had pleaded with Pakistan Prime Minister, Imran Khan, to help him secure a visa to travel abroad for medical treatment.

In August, Sharif suffered a heart attack. It is also reported that he had undergone two heart bypasses.
