Pakistani & Balochi singers for ‘Mirzya’

mirzya

Over the past few years, the Bollywood music scene has witnessed quite a change with singers from countries such as Pakistan lending their voice to the Hindi film soundtracks. The latest development in collaboration of the two countries’ entertainment industries has come in form of Pakistani sufi singers, such as Sain Zahoor whose voice will be heard in the upcoming love story, ‘Mirzya’.

About Zahoor, Shankar Mahadevan, who has composed the music of the film, toldBollywood Hungama, “Sain Zahoor is an interesting character! His look itself is so amazing. He is so innocent and truly immersed in his own music and world. Until 2006 he never put his voice into a recording studio. The unique thing is, when you teach him the lyrics of a song, he draws pictures instead of writing syllables! Amazing! And that’s how he remembers the words…. Truly a delight to work with”

Mahadevan also spoke about Balochi singer Akhtar Chanal Zahri, saying, “Akhtar bhai also is so much fun to work with and had an amazing voice texture which represents Afghanistan! We had to compose the pieces around the two exquisite singers’ voices so that their presence doesn’t look forced into the song.”

It can be noted that Indian Punjabi singer, Daler Mehndi, has also sung for ‘Mirzya’.

Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the film marks Harsh Kapoor and Saiyami Kher’s debuts in Bollywood and releases on 7th October.
