Pahlaj Nihalani on being sacked as CBFC chief

After Pahlaj Nihalani was surprisingly sacked as chairman of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Prasoon Joshi was quickly roped in to replace him.

Nihalani was expected to step down in January 2018 but was sacked after objections from many within the board. Talking to Mid-Day, Nihalani said he wasn’t shocked wit the decision.

He said, “I was not shocked at all. I’m happy and relieved. I have done this job to the best of my capacity. I wish all the best to the film industry, and to people who were against me.”

Asked if he would like to comment on what had happened, he said, “Whatever has happened is the government’s decision. I respect it. I’m happy with my stint as the CBFC chairperson. I’ve always performed my duty with honesty, sincerity. I have no regrets.”
