‘Padmavati’ still on track despite delays

Over the last week, the news that protesters had vandalised the Jaipur sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ and attacked him have ruled the headlines. However, despite the delays that these events may have caused, after the cast and crew packed up and returned to Mumbai, it seems producers Viacom 18 are determined to release the film as scheduled in November.

An emergency meeting was held to discuss the situation and a source revealed, according to Deccan Chronicle, “Ranveer and Shahid haven’t committed to any other project until Padmavati’s completion. Only Deepika has other commitments, but she knows the importance of Padmavati for her career”.

The source added that Viacom 18 was putting full trust in Bhansali for a way forward, “Viacom has full faith in SLB. Padmavati is the costliest Indian film to be produced. The losses suffered by the disruption of shooting in Jaipur will be absorbed easily into the budget. Viacom now waits for SLB to take a call on the new location for the movie. Then it’s full steam ahead”.

No doubt the attacks have shaken the whole fraternity but it seems this film’s team is as strong as ever and even more strong-willed to make sure it is completed as planned.
