‘Padmavati’ climax scene dominated by fire

Sanjay Leela Bhansali hasn’t worked with fire since a fire broke out on the sets of his film a few years ago. However, it seems he had to break this unwritten rule for the upcoming ‘Padmavati’.

The director, who is known for his extravagance, shot the entire climax scene with fire. A source close to the movie told Asian Age, “Bhansali had to shoot Rani Padmavati’s self-immolation sequence, where she had to plunge into a fire with hundreds of her disciples, rather than succumbing to the invader, Allaudin Khilji’s advances. The sequence required widespread use of flames. And given his past mishaps with fire, Bhansali was understandably petrified that an accident would occur”.

Deepika Padukone, who plays the protagonist, was also praised for her efforts, as the source continued, “She was very brave. All the safety measures in place, she plunged into the sequence. The climax of Padmavati will be remembered for a long, long time”.

The first look of Padukone in the film was unveiled recently. It’s thought the trailer may arrive at Dussehra.
