‘Padmavati’ certification postponed again by CBFC?

After weeks of reports about ‘Padmavati’ and its pending certification, it seems the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) were about the view the film this week and give it a certificate. However, it seems this has been postponed once again.

BizAsiaLive.com reported not long ago that the film had been re-submitted by Viacom18 Motion Pictures for both 2D and 3D certification. News now has it that the film’s disclaimer has raised new questions. A source close to CBFC is quoted by SKJ, “We can’t disclose details. But the new disclaimer on the application form of Padmavati has created a whole new debate as to how the film needs to be viewed and certified. At the moment we can only reveal that it is a complicated process that requires experts to intervene”.

No doubt many would have been hopeful that the film could be released after the Gujarat elections. It now seems unlikely, but one can hope that the CBFC gives the film its rightful chance to be certified.
