The World Cup 2014 continues to play havoc on Indian news channels in the UK with Star Plus suffering the most on Friday night, according to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia.

In a rare development, the channel’s viewership failed to cross 100,000 viewers for any show. Star Plus regularly attracts over 150,000 viewers for most of its primetime offerings. ‘Saathiya’ was the biggest draw at 19:00 with 92,700 viewers at 19:00, followed by ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ with 92,600 viewers and ‘Mahabharat’ in third with 91,600 viewers. Yesterday’s earlier World Cup game between Spain and Netherlands seems to have taken a toll on the viewership of Asian TV channels in the UK.

On Colors, ‘Rangrasiya’ was back on top and regaining viewership with 55,000 viewers at 21:30, followed by ‘BeIntehaa’ at 21:00 with 47,000 viewers.

On Rishtey, ‘Parichay’ was the biggest success at 20:00 with 81,000 viewers, followed by ‘Laagi Tujhse Lagan’ with 70,700 viewers and ‘Laado’ at 21:00 with 61,800 viewers.

On Star Life Ok, ‘Ek Boond Ishq’ at 20:30 pulled in 21,900 viewers, followed by ‘Nadaan Parindey’ with 17,500 viewers.
