The launch of Star TV’s much talked about new show, the Indian adaption of hit UK cookery show ‘Come Dine With Me’ proved a ratings winner for Star Life Ok.

According to exclusive UK viewing data for Monday obtained by BizAsia from Attentional, ‘Welcome…Baazi Mehmaan Nawaazi Ki’ at 22:00 got the channel an audience of 38,100 – peaking at 45,800. Comparatively, ‘Saubhagyavati Bhava’, which was sitting in the weekday 22:00 slot last week and has since been axed, could only manage around 2,000 viewers.

If ‘Welcome’ maintains the viewership it had on its launch night, the channel’s overall weekly reach will extend to an all-time high. Currently, the channel has a weekly reach of around 461,000 (for week ending 13th January).

‘Welcome’ was the second most watched show on Star Life Ok, beaten by the ever dependent ‘Devon Ke Dev Mahadev’, which pulled in 42,200 at 20:00. ‘Junoon – Aisi Nafrat, Toh Kaisa Ishq’ also did well for the channel with an audience of 30,800 at number three.

However, the overall winner on Monday night was ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’, which had a close fight with ‘Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyara Pyara’. The former won the battle but only just. ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ pulled in 199,700 – peaking at 229,500. ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyara Pyara’ was in second with 198,900 at 22:00 – peaking at 251,900.

‘Saathiya’ emerged as the third most watched show on the channel with 172,000, followed by ‘Yeh Khamoshiyan’ at 19:30 with 166,800.

‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ continued its struggle at 21:30 with just 97,500 viewers. The show was the least watched during primetime on the channel.

On Zing, ‘Cloud 9’ continued to disappoint with a zero rating at 10:30, 16:30, 18:30 and 22:30. The channel’s most watched show was ‘Dance India Dance at 15:00 with an audience of 20,600.
