Overnights: Warm weather hits UK TV ratings

The unusually warm British weather is taking a toll on UK Asian TV ratings, according to data exclusively obtained by BizAsia.

The hot weather, combined with the ongoing Islamic month of Ramadan has dented viewership on Asian TV channels. Barring one show, primetime shows on Star Plus fell below 100,000 viewers last night. ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ at 21:00 pulled in 110,600 viewers, while others such as ‘Mahabharat’, ‘Saathiya’ and ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai’ had to settle with 97,000 viewers each.

On Colors, ‘BeIntehaa’ repeat at 19:00 did well with 28,500 viewers, followed by ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ at 19:30 with 26,700 viewers and ‘Uttaran’ at 22:00 with 22,500 viewers. ‘Madhubala’ at 20:30 continued to disappoint with just an average of 300 viewers tuning in.

On Rishtey, ‘Lagi Tujhse Laagan’ repeat at 22:30 pulled in 47,500 viewers, followed by ‘Laado’ at 21:00 with 41,300 viewers and ‘Parichay’ at 20:00 raked in 37,200 viewers.

On Hum Europe, the most watched show was the repeat of ‘Iss Bhool Ki Maafi Nahi’ at 17:00 with 33,900 viewers, followed by ‘Izterab’ at 21:30 with 8,100 viewers and ‘Jashne Ramadan’ at 18:30 pulling 5,100 viewers from 18:30. Other afternoon and evening shows on the channel rated between 1,000 viewers and 5,000 viewers.

On Star Life Ok, ‘Ek Boond Ishq’ was top with 25,200 viewers and ‘Nadaan Parinde’ at 21:00 was next with 18,600 viewers. ‘Savdhaan India’ managed to get 12,400 viewers at 22:30.
