'Veera' starts well for Star Plus

The launch of ‘Veera’ has proved to be a success for Star Plus, according to overnight viewing figures obtained exclusively by BizAsia from Attentional.

‘Veera’ – launched on Monday 29th October, replacing the popular series ‘Pratigya’ in the 22:30 band. ‘Veera’ is the story about a bond between a brother and a sister.

Even though ‘Pratigya’ ended on a high at the weekend, the ratings prior to its end were not much to boast about – averaging between 60 – 90,000 per episode. The debut episode of ‘Veera’ on Monday night at 22:30 raked in 143,300 – peaking at 181,200. On Tuesday 30th October, ‘Veera’ dipped slightly to 118,800 but then recovering lost ground last night (Wednesday 31st October) to 124,500 – peaking at 166,000.

During the same slot – a week earlier, ‘Pratigya’ on Monday 22nd October garnered a viewership of 100,200, then on Tuesday 23rd October 89,600 and on Wednesday 24th October – dropping to 54,600.

It remains to be seen whether ‘Veera’ will be able to retain its viewership and prove to be a channel driver.
