'Pyar Ka Dard...' jumps back to the top spot in UK

The major technical fault, which affected Star Plus UK last night resulted in lower viewing figures than normal.

When the channel returned at 20:00 after a 70-minute transmission break, ‘Kaali’ at 20:00 attracted just 46,700 viewers. According to exclusive UK viewing data for Thursday night obtained by BizAsia from Attentional, the audience started settling after 20:30 but still much lower than what is expected from the channel.

The scheduled 20:30 show ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ could only manage to deliver 133,100 – peaking at 163,500. The 21:00 show ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ did similarly with an audience of 121,500. The surprise came at 21:30 with ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ plummeting to a new low to just 69,400 viewers. It is not known why the show has declined in ratings this week.

The channel rocketed at 22:00 with the show ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyara Pyara’, which outperformed its rivals. It was easily the most watched Asian TV show in the UK with an audience of 213,100 – peaking at 250,700 viewers tuning into see Aditya declaring his love for Phankuri.

‘Veera’ at 22:30 bounced back and got an audience of 152,900.

Over on Zing, ‘Cloud 9’ was back down to just 1,400 viewers tuning in at 18:30 and a further 1,700 viewers switching on at 22:30.

Rishtey, ‘Na Aana Iss Des Laado’ was the top rated show at 21:00 with 63,700. In second was ‘Bairi Piya’ with 34,700 and ‘Jeevan Saathi’ in third with 23,700.
