'MasterChef India' makes huge ratings splash in UK

It was back on top of the leader board for Star Plus’ ‘MasterChef India’, which climbed to pole position as the UK’s most watched Asian TV show last night.

‘MasterChef India’ pulled in 254,500 viewers in the 20:00 slot yesterday – peaking at an incredible 319,500 viewers. This was followed by ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ in the 21:00 slot with 219,800 and ‘SaraswatiChandra’ in third with 197,000.

The others in the pecking order were ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai’ (175,200), ‘Saathiya’ (170,300), ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ (159,200), ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ (150,600) and ‘Veera’ (136,500). New show ‘Ek Ghar Banuanga’ launched in the 18:30 slot – doing well for the channel with 69,000 viewers. Last week, the repeat of ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ in that same slot was attracting around 20,000 viewers.

On Rishtey, ‘Jeevan Saathi’ at 20:00 attracted 57,700 viewers, followed by ‘Na Aana Is Desh Laado’ with 55,700 viewers and ‘Bairi Piya’ in third with 47,500 viewers.

On ITV4, the two Indian Premier League matches yesterday attracted 174,600 viewers between 11:00 and 20:00.

On Sony SAB TV, ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ was the channel driver with an impressive 84,700 viewers, followed by ‘Chidiyaghar’ with 67,700 and ‘Jeanie Aur Juju’ next with 47,600.

On Star Life Ok, ‘Devon Ka Dev Mahadev’ pulled in 18,400 viewers, ‘Amrit Manthan’ was closely behind with 18,300 viewers and ‘Junoon’ in third with 15,600 viewers.

‘Screen And Beyond’ on Zing was the most watched show with 11,600 viewers at 17:30, followed by ‘Bollywood Business’ at 19:30 with 10,800 viewers. ‘Cloud 9’ fetched an audience of under 1,000 viewers at 18:30 but rated zero at 22:30.
