Overnights: Star Plus Dopahar breaks afternoon record

Star Plus launched its original afternoon band yesterday, with record audiences tuning in between the newly created 12:30 – 14:30 Star Plus Dopahar slot , according to exclusive data obtained by BizAsiaLive.com .

If day one data is to go by, Star Plus UK is on to a winner with record numbers tuning in for the four new shows. It is worth noting that Star Plus is the only channel to launch an original two-hour band during daytime. Looking into the data, Star Plus Dopahar shows got the following ratings:

12:30 – Kya Qusoor Hai Amala Ka
Audience: 24,000 viewers – peaking at 31,600 viewers

13:00 – Tu Sooraj Mein Saanjh, Piyaji
Audience: 56,800 viewers – peaking at 81,300 viewers

13:30 – Ek Aastha Aisi Bhee
Audience: 63,900 viewers – peaking at 82,800 viewers

14:00 – Dhaai Kilo Prem
Audience: 23,500 viewers – peaking at 43,600 viewers

Comparing the data to a week ago when Star Plus UK broadcast re-run shows from its library, the channel drew an average 15,000 viewers. In further good news for Star Plus UK, the re-run shows in question also had a boost in their new slots with ‘Nisha Aur Uske Cousins’ at midday bringing in 31,600 viewers, followed by ‘Ek Ghar Banaunga’ at 11:30 with 21,400 viewers.

So it seems Star Plus has hit the right note with Star Plus Dopahar, it now remains to be seen if it will be able to sustain the strong viewership.

Above data is an overnight rating supplied by Attentional – and may change slightly after consolidated figures become available in seven days from BARB.
