Sony SAB TV has witnessed a huge increase in its ratings with doubling the figures in most slots last night in the UK, according to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia.

The channel, which has steadily been revamping its schedule, seems to have finally struck a chord with viewers. The changes are reflecting well in the ratings for Sony SAB TV.

On Tuesday, the channel beat the likes of Star Life Ok, Zing and Sahara One in the UK ratings between 19:30 and 22:30. It also gave Rishtey intense competition by beating it in all primetime slots except 20:30.

The shows ‘R. K. Laxman Ki Duniya’ (31,400), ‘BaalVeer’ (78,800), ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ (79,000), ‘Chidiyaghar’ (69,200), ‘Jeanie Aur Juju’ (80,800) and ‘Hum Aapke Hain In-laws’ (47,300) all performed superbly well for Sony SAB TV last night.

On Rishtey, it was only ‘Bairi Piya’ that beat Sony SAB TV in the 20:30 slot with 83,700 viewers. ‘Jeevan Saathi’ at 20:00 was another popular show last night but was well behind Sony SAB TV. It managed to pull in 60,800 viewers. ‘Na Aana Iss Desh Laado’ at 21:00 got 57,000.

Star Plus, as expected continued to lead the ratings with ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ getting a huge 268,800 viewers at 21:00. It was followed by ‘SaraswatiChandra’ with 242,800 – but ‘MasterChef India’ was right behind it with 242,400 viewers.

In fourth place was ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai’ at 22:00 with 170,200 viewers. Next up was ‘Saathiya’ with 164,000, followed by ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ with 140,400 and ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ with 133,600 viewers. ‘Veera’ was bottom with 105,700 viewers.

On Star Life Ok, ‘Welcome’ at 22:00 posted 24,800 viewers, followed by ‘Devon Ka Dev Mahadev’ with 21,500 viewers. In third was ‘Amrit Manthan’ with 13,800 viewers.

On Zing, ‘Cloud 9’ at 18:30 got around 200 viewers – peaking at 1,400 viewers. The 22:30 episode rated zero. ‘World Of Bollywood’ at 18:00 got 2,600 viewers.
