Star Plus UK doubled the ratings in the 19:30 slot last night with the launch of its big budget drama ‘SaraswatiChandra’ produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

The much publicised and talked about show had a 217,000 viewers in the 19:30 slot – peaking at 232,500 viewers – that’s twice the audience ‘Yeh Khamoshiyan’ was getting in the same slot in previous weeks.

The launch episode of ‘SaraswatiChandra’ has certainly connected well with viewers but the question of sustainability arises. The coming few days will determine how well viewers have gelled with the show. The upcoming romantic track between the two leads starring Gautam Rode and Jennifer Winget, will certainly keep viewers engaged to the show.

‘SaraswatiChandra’ came second only to old favourite ‘Saathiya’ in the UK ratings last night. ‘Saathiya’ at 19:00 attracted 231,500 viewers – peaking at 272,300 viewers. It delivered 154,000 viewers.

Zing’s locally produced drama ‘Cloud 9’ rated zero at 10:30, 16:30 and 22:30 yesterday. Only the 18:30 could muster in around 200 viewers – peaking at 1,400 viewers. The playlist show ‘Pure Bollywood’ at 16:00 was the channel’s most watched show with 13,200 viewers.

‘Devon Ka Dev Mahadev’ was Star Life Ok’s most watched show last night at 20:00 with 61,00 viewers tuning in. This was followed by ‘Savdhaan India’ with 31,600 viewers and ‘Junoon’ at 21:30 with 24,900 viewers. New show ‘Savitri’ averaged at 21,500 viewers at 20:30.
