Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s new show on Star Plus ‘SaraswatiChandra’ saw record ratings last night in the UK – the biggest for a fiction show for the channel in months.

The ratings high has most certainly been pushed by Star TV’s recent marketing for the show. Last night, ‘SaraswatiChandra’ was watched by an incredible 297,800 viewers – peaking at 310,400 viewers. The show beat its own record of 254,000, which it rated last week.

The launch episode of ‘MasterChef’ at 20:00 also pushed the channel further with an impressive 188,800 viewers – peaking at 230,600 viewers. With the reality TV show just launched, it remains to be seen how a non-fiction show will work in the middle of other popular dramas on Star Plus.

‘Saathiya’ at 19:00 was in third place with 185,400 viewers, followed by ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ with 182,100 viewers. ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ was next with 166,300 viewers. ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ was watched by 143,500 and ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai’ was next with 123,400. ‘Veera’ was bottom with 58,200 viewers.

‘Cloud 9’ on Zing was watched by nearly 2,000 viewers at 18:30, followed by 1,100 viewers at 22:30. ‘World Of Bollywood’ at 18:00 was the channel’s highest rated show with over 3,000 viewers.

‘Bairi Piya’ on Rishtey at 20:30 was the channel’s most watched show with 80,000 viewers, followed by ‘Jeevan Saathi’ at 20:00 with 52,500 and ‘Na Aana Iss Desh Laado’ at 21:00 with 51,100 viewers.

On Star Life Ok, ‘2612’ was viewed by 35,800 viewers, followed by ‘Junoon’ with 32,600 viewers and ‘Devon Ka Dev Mahadev’ at 20:00 with 31,300 viewers.

On Sony SAB TV, ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasma’ was the channel’s most watched show with 30,700 viewers at 20:30, followed by ‘Baal Veer’ with 29,800 viewers and ‘Tota Weds Maina’ at 22:30 got 25,900 viewers.
