Overnights: ‘SaraswatiChandra’ breaks record; hits top

A week after its launch, ‘SaraswatiChandra’ has hit the top spot and broken records by gaining the highest ever rating for the 19:30 slot since Star Plus UK signed up to audience measuring body, BARB.
‘SaraswatiChandra’, produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, stars Gautam Rode and Jennifer Winget, it pulled an incredible 289,400 viewers – peaking at 336,900 viewers – one of the biggest ever ratings for a Star Plus fiction. The ratings are expected to rise further as the two lead characters meet later this week.
In second place was ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’, which garnered a very impressive 247,400 viewers at 21:00. The climax in ‘Kaali Ek PunarAvtar’ has also proved well for the channel with 209,800 viewers gripped to the last few episodes of the show.
The others in the pecking order were ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai’ (189,100), ‘Saathiya’ (178,800), ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ (168,400), ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ (136,400) and ‘Veera’ (127,900).
Over on Zing, local production ‘Cloud 9’ failed to attract a large enough audience to register – last night’s two episodes at 18:30 and 22:30 rated zero. Incidentally it was the 16:30 slot, which previously was used for ‘Cloud 9’ that gained the most viewers yesterday. ‘Trendsetters’ got 13,500 viewers.
On Sony SAB TV, the repeat telecast of ‘Baal Veer’ did really well by getting 41,900 viewers at 18:00. ‘RK Lakshman Ki Duniya’ at 11:30 was next most popular on the channel with 33,200 viewers. The first episode of ‘Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin’ at 17:30 got 29,800 viewers.
‘Bairi Piya’ on Rishtey continued to lead the way at 20:30 with 60,400 viewers, followed by ‘Jeevan Saathi’ at 20:00 with 57,600 viewers.
On Star Life Ok, ‘Welcome’ was the biggest attraction with 50,800 viewers tuning in at 22:00, followed by ‘Mahadev’ at 20:00 with 38,000 and ‘Savdhaan India’ got 26,500.
