'Pyar Ka Dard Hai' jumps back to top in UK

Hit drama ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai’ returned to the coveted top position in the UK ratings last night, according to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia.

The Adi-Phankuri drama at 22:00 pulled in a huge 243,700 viewers – peaking at 275,600 – making it easily the most watched Asian TV in the UK on Tuesday night.

Surprisingly, ‘Kaali Ek PunarAvtar’, which is set to bid adieu to viewers next month, was in second place with 210,000 – peaking at 256,900 viewers. In third was new show ‘SaraswatiChandra’, which maintained its high viewership from its launch on Monday night. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali show attracted 206,000 – peaking at 229,100 viewers.

The others in the pecking order were ‘Saathiya’ (195,100), ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ (181,700), ‘Veera’ (168,000), ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ (164,400) and ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ (145,700).

On Zing, local production ‘Cloud 9’ managed 1,100 viewers at 18:30, with a further 2,400 viewers at 22:30. The other two slots rated zero on Zing. ‘World Of Bollywood’ at 18:00 was the channel’s most watched show with 20,000 viewers tuning in.

‘Devon Ka Dev Mahadev’ at 20:00 remained on top of Star Life Ok’s popularity chart with 61,700 tuning in. This was followed by ‘2612’ with 44,700 at 21:00 and ‘Junoon’ at 21:30 with 37,000 viewers.

‘Bairi Piya’ on Rishtey was the channel’s most watched show with 77,100 viewers tuning in at 20:30. In second place was ‘Swarg’ at 18:30 with 63,900, followed by ‘Na Aana Iss Desh Lado’ with 55,800 viewers.

Sony SAB TV did impressively well yesterday too with ‘Jeanie Aur Juju’ pulling in the most viewers for the channel. It attracted 27,700 viewers at 21:30, followed by ‘Hum Aapke Hain In-laws’ and ‘Baalveer’ both pulling in 27,000 viewers.
