Overnights: Prime TV beats Star Plus to No.1 on Saturday in UK

In a huge victory for British Pakistani channel, Prime TV on Saturday, it managed to beat market leader, Star Plus to the No.1 position, according to exclusive data obtained by BizAsiaLive.com .

Prime TV got one of its best ever ratings on Saturday with a share of 0.14%, compared to Star Plus’ share of 0.12%. Not only did Prime TV do well with its Pakistan Super League 2018 (PSL 2018) coverage throughout the day, its current affairs shows from Express News also registered a spike in ratings. The first match between Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators at 11:00 attracted around 27,000 viewers, while the second match between Peshawar Zalim and Lahore Qalandars delivering around 20,000 viewers.

Not only did the PSL 2018 coverage give Prime TV a huge boost, it also did well with non-cricket programming, with Express News content post midnight attracting a big audience. This is the first time Prime TV has gone on beating Star Plus in UK ratings, proving this year’s PSL 2018 coverage has given Prime TV the upper hand over its rivals. Hum Masala, the second broadcaster of PSL 2018, delivered one of its lowest shares of the cricket series so far. It could only manage a share of 0.02%. Its first PSL 2018 match pulled in 3,300 viewers and the second one raking in 5,600 viewers.

Star Plus’ top rated shows on Saturday were ‘Yeh Hai Mohabatein’ at 19:30 with 155,300 viewers, followed by ‘Tu Sooraj Mein Saanjh Piyaji’ at 19:00 with 89,700 viewers and ‘India’s Next Superstars’ at 20:00 with 29,700 viewers.

PTC Punjabi also did well by taking the third position on Saturday with a share of 0.06%, followed by Star Gold with 0.05%, Sony Entertainment Television, Sony MAX and Geo TV all with 0.04%, Hum TV, ZEE TV, ZEE Cinema and Colors all with 0.03%.
