The strategy to premiere new films and events on Viacom 18’s newly launched channel, Rishtey seems to be paying dividends.

Over the past three weeks, the channel has premiered ‘Shirin Farhad Toh Nikal Padi’ (Audience: 45,600), ‘Cocktail’ (Audience: 67,400) and last night televised ‘OMG’ starring Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal.

According to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia from Attentional, the mythological movie proved once again that movies still grab a huge chunk of the audience. Even though, it could not touch last week’s ‘Cocktail’ premiere audience high, it still managed a reasonable audience beating its rivals. ‘OMG’, which was shown between 19:00 and 22:00 on Sunday had an audience of 54,000 – peaking at 69,700. The slot had a share of 0.22%.

Rival, Star Plus broadcast the ‘Indian Television Academy Awards’ between 21:00 and midnight – it got an audience of 35,100 – peaking at 83,800. It had a share of 0.19%.

Above data is an overnight rating and may change slightly after consolidated figures become available in seven days from BARB.
