Overnights: New Vision TV triumphs over rivals at weekend

The leading South Asian news channel, New Vision TV not only outdid its rivals, it also beat entertainment channels including Star Plus in UK ratings over the weekend, according to exclusive overnights data.

New Vision TV registered a whopping share of 0.13% with ‘News’ at 11:00 attracting 44,300 viewers, followed by ‘Headline News’ at midday with 39,000 viewers. The channel’s 5-minute ‘Headline News’ updates have been proving a huge draw. Its ‘News’ bulletin at 11:00 on Sunday was watched by 30,200 viewers. New Vision TV also impressed on Saturday with a gigantic share of 0.14%.

Star Bharat was the biggest channel in the entertainment genre with Kajol’s movie ‘VIP 2’ pulling in 41,900 viewers at 19:00. Incidentally, the movie drew a bigger audience than its premiere on Star Plus and Star Gold. The channel’s share was high as 0.08%.

Colors was placed in second place with a share of 0.05%. ‘Naagin 3’ at 20:00 pulled in 21,800 viewers and ‘Dance Deewane’ at 21:00 raked in 18,000 viewers. IIFA Rocks at 18:00 was watched by 12,700 viewers.

Star Plus’ share remained traditionally low at the weekend with 0.04% on Sunday. Its top rated show was ‘Qayamat Ki Raat’ at 21:30 with 11,700 viewers. ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’ at 20:00 could only muster in 6,300 viewers.

Sony Entertainment Television, Hum Masala and ZEE TV raked in a share of 0.03%.

Hum TV’s share was at 0.02%.
