NDTV 24×7 was the preferred broadcaster in the UK yesterday for the Narendra Modi swearing-in ceremony, according to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia.

The channel won the ratings battle between 12:30 – 14:30 (UK) when the ceremony was broadcast. It pulled in 49,400 viewers during the key two hours of the broadcast in its non-stop news coverage direct from India. It peaked to an impressive 70,800 viewers.

In second place was ABP News, which raked a quarter of NDTV 24×7’s ratings. It managed to attract 7,600 viewers during the same slot. Aaj Tak was next with 7,000 viewers and News18 India in fourth place with 5,700 viewers.

In terms of entertainment channels, Star Plus’ ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ and ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ were the leading shows with 163,500 viewers each. However, ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ at 21:00 had a higher peak with 193,900 viewers. ‘Veera’ at 22:30 did well with 125,500 viewers.

On Colors, ‘Rangrasiya’ was back on top of the ratings with 49,900 viewers, followed by ‘Uttaran’ with 43,700 viewers and ‘BeIntehaa’ next with 38,500 viewers.

On Rishtey, ‘Laagi Tujhse Lagan’ was top show with 92,000 viewers at 20:30, followed by ‘Parichay’ with 88,500 viewers and ‘Bani’ at 19:30 with 77,500 viewers.

On Star Life Ok, ‘Mahadev’ did well with 21,100 viewers and was top, followed by ‘Ek Boond Ishq’ next with 16,500 viewers.
