Overnights: NDTV 24×7 jumps to No.2 after Star Plus

In the new order, NDTV 24×7 seems to be ahead of major GEC’s like ZEE TV and Sony Entertainment Television in ratings.

On Friday, NDTV 24×7 became the number 2 Indian channel after Star Plus, which still dominates the number one position; and was the number 1 Indian news channel.

For the first time, an Indian news channel has shown such a high growth rate and has beaten GECs as well. NDTV 24×7 has stood apart from other Indian news channels with its accurate coverage and reputable journalists. With accurate and real-time coverage of events taking place in India, the UK and internationally – it has become the go to Indian news channel. With a dedicated Out of England show presented by reporter Radhika Iyer, the channel has a struck a chord with the local community.

Speaking about the increase in ratings Rohit Jaiswal, Vice President at NDTV Limited said, “Off late, we have been focusing on the UK market. NDTV 24×7’s reportage of news and editorial policies are similar to those of most UK mainstream news channels, thereby ensuring we reach out not only to Indians but the mainstream audience as well. Over the years we have established ourselves as a news channel people can trust, with our accurate coverage and on ground reporting, not only in India, but in UK and around the world as well.”

“While the editorial style is hugely responsible for its spike in ratings, NDTV 24×7 has been strategically marketing itself in the UK – through outdoor, radio, PR and partnership with local events,” added Manish Tiwari, MD, Here & Now 365.
