Overnights: Movie channels surge in New Years Day UK ratings

General entertainment channels got a hammering in UK ratings on New Years Day, while movie channels including B4U Movies, Star Gold and Sony MAX witnessing a huge surge, according to exclusive data obtained by BizAsiaLive.com .

B4U Movies was close to overtaking market leader, Star Plus in terms of share on Monday. B4U Movies was the biggest Bollywood film channel with a share of 0.06%, followed by Star Gold and Sony MAX with 0.05% each. ZEE Cinema and Rishtey Cineplex clocked up a share of 0.01%.

B4U Movies top film was Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Baadshah’ at 11:30 with 24,200 viewers. The classic film ‘Mughal-e-Azam’, which was shown in HD for the first time on Star Gold was watched by 22,000 viewers and movie ‘Veer Zaara’ at 12:45 pulled in 18,600 viewers on Sony MAX.

B4U Movies has managed to surprise this festive season with bumper ratings, regularly beating its rivals on various days. Incidentally, a number of films that have been performing well for the channel are being shared with ZEE Cinema but the ratings are bigger on B4U Movies.
