The launch of new romantic fiction ‘Meri Aashiqui’ proved a mediocre success on Rishtey in the UK last night, according to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia.

The Ekta Kapoor produced drama, which debuted on the channel yesterday at 20:30 pulled in 47,700 viewers – peaking at 76,800 viewers. It is expected to grow further in the coming weeks as the show gains momentum. The show was no match for the older shows that have been running on the channel longer with ‘Parichay’ at 20:00 thrashing Star Plus at 20:00 with 141,600 viewers – peaking at 157,100 viewers. Next were ‘Laagi Tujhse Lagan’ in its new time slot at 19:30 with 99,500 viewers and ‘Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha’ at 19:00 with an impressive 66,300 viewers.

On Star Plus, ‘Ek Hasina Thi’ was the top show at 20:00 with 127,500 viewers, followed by ‘Mahabharat’ with 119,100 viewers and ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ in third with 115,200 viewers.

On Colors, ‘BeIntehaa’ got double the audience than any other show on the channel with 81,200 viewers at 21:00, followed by ‘Rangrasiya’ with 39,600 viewers and ‘Balika Vadhu’ at 20:00 with 37,200 viewers.

On Star Life Ok, ‘Savdhaan India’ was the top rated show with 16,200 viewers, followed by ‘Baawre’ at 22:00 with 12,700 viewers and ‘Tumhari Paakhi’ with 9,500 viewers at 21:30.
