'MasterChef India' makes huge ratings splash in UK

Star Plus’ strategy to launch a non-fiction show during weekday primetime seems to be working well, according to last night’s ratings obtained exclusively by BizAsia.

‘MasterChef India’, which sits in the weekday 20:00 slot, is the only reality TV show in the midst of primetime filled with dramas on the channel. Last night, the show pulled in 232,900 viewers – the biggest rating it has received, since it launched earlier this month.

‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ was in second place with 221,800, followed by ‘SaraswatiChandra’, which continued to impress with 216,900 viewers. In fourth was ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai’ in the 22:00 slot with 205,400 viewers and ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ got one of the best ratings recently with 201,500 viewers.

‘Veera’ at 22:30 was next with 132,100, followed by ‘Saathiya’ at 19:00 with 128,900 and ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ at 21:30 with 119,900 viewers.

On Star Life Ok, ‘Junoon’ at 21:30 was the channel’s most watched show with 42,200 viewers. This was followed by ‘Welcome’ at 22:00 with 35,900 viewers and ‘2612’ with 22,600.

The Yash Raj TV imported show ‘Mahi Way’ on Sony SAB TV at 18:30 attracted 49,000 viewers – the biggest for this show since it launched this month. ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ at 20:30 got 49,900 viewers, followed by ‘Chidiyaghar’ at 21:00 with 44,600 viewers.

On Rishtey, ‘Bairi Piya’ continued to lead the way with 79,700 viewers, followed by ‘Jeevan Saathi’ at 20:00 with 66,900 viewers.

On Zing, request show ‘Rock The Vibe’ was the most watched show with 13,800 viewers. ‘Cloud 9’ at 18:30 pulled in 1,900 viewers and the 22:30 repeat attracted over 1,100 viewers.
