'MasterChef India' makes huge ratings splash in UK

‘MasterChef India’ ruled the ratings on UK Asian TV last night, according to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia.

The cookery show had an audience of 162,400 viewers – peaking at 196,100 viewers. The two Star Plus dramas ‘SaraswatiChandra’ and ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ were joint second, each attracting 155,400 – with ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ just slightly ahead with a couple of hundred more viewers, however ‘SaraswatiChandra’ peaked higher. In third was ‘Saathiya’ with 141,700 viewers.

The others in the pecking order were ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai’ (133,400), ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ (99,300), ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ (92,900), ‘Veera’ (76,500) and ‘Ek Ghar Banuanga’ (30,100).

On Rishtey, ‘Bairi Piya’ was the channel leader with 106,900 viewers, followed by ‘Na Aana Iss Desh Laado’ with 105,000 and ‘Jeevan Saathi’ in third with 83,500 viewers.

On Star Life, ‘Savdhaan India’ at 22:30 attracted 14,800 viewers, while the repeat of ‘2613’ at 23:30 got 11,600 viewers, followed by ‘Junoon’ at 21:30 with 9,800 viewers.

‘Cloud 9’ on Zing at 18:30 got around 1,100 viewers, with the repeat at 22:30 pulling in 2,000 viewers.

On ITV4, the latest Indian Premier League match pulled in one of the best audiences with 291,800 viewers – peaking at 411,500 viewers.
