'MasterChef India' makes huge ratings splash in UK

The current series of ‘MasterChef India’ is proving a runaway success for Star Plus UK after it held off competition from rival shows for the third consecutive night yesterday.

According to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia, ‘MasterChef India’ was the most watched show in the UK with 201,000 viewers at 20:00 – peaking at 230,200 viewers. In second place was ‘SaraswatiChandra’, which continued to impress viewers. The show attracted 185,200 viewers at 19:30. In third place was ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ with 165,600 viewers.

The others in the pecking order were ‘Veera’ (161,100), ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai’ (155,900), ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ (130,600), ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ (122,400) and ‘Saathiya’ (117,500).

On Sony SAB TV, ‘Baal Veer’ continued its record run with 71,700 viewers – peaking at 92,000. It was the second most watched Asian show in the 20:00 – 20:30 slot after Star Plus. ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ was next with 68,900 viewers and ‘Chidiyaghar’ with 31,000 – both these slots also managed to beat Rishtey during the same time.

On Rishtey, ‘Bandhan’ at 19:00 was the most watched show on the channel with 37,600 viewers, followed by ‘Bairi Piya’ at 20:30 with 30,800 viewers. In third was ‘Bani – Ishq Da Kalma’ with 30,000 viewers.

On Star Life Ok, ‘Devon Ka Dev Mahadev’ was the most watched show on the channel with 22,500 viewers. In second place was ‘Savdhaan India’ with 12,300 viewers, followed by ‘Amrit Manthan’ with 11,100 viewers.

On Zing, ‘Cloud 9’ at 22:30 was the most watched show during primetime, which got 6,200 viewers but the 18:30 original episode rated zero. ‘World Of Bollywood’ at 18:00 attracted 2,700 viewers.
