The finale of ‘MasterChef India’ on Star Plus last night was easily the most watched show on UK Asian TV, according to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia.

The hour-long special at 20:00, which saw Ripudaman Handa crowned the winner, attracted 235,900 viewers at 20:00 peaking at 289,700 viewers. In the UK, this series has been one of the most successful in recent months by topping the ratings regularly. A junior version of the series is set to launch later this year.

In second place was ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ with 192,200 viewers, followed by ‘SaraswatiChandra’ with 170,000 viewers. The others in the pecking order were ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai’ (149,000), ‘Saathiya’ (137,000), ‘Veera’ (128,400), ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ (117,000) and ‘Ek Ghar Banaunga’ (63,500).

On Rishtey, ‘Bani – Ishq Da Kalma’ continued to top the ratings for the channel with 59,300 viewers, followed by ‘Bairi Piya’ with 28,400 viewers and ‘Swarg’ in third with 19,900 viewers.

On Star Life Ok, new show ‘Do Dil Ek Jaan’ got the best ever viewership with 30,500 viewers at 21:00, followed by ‘Devon Ka Dev Mahadev’ next with 19,000 viewers and ‘Savdhaan India’ with 18,400 viewers.

On Sony SAB TV, ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ was on top with 52,200 viewers, followed by ‘BaalVeer’ next with 38,900 viewers and ‘Jeanie Aur Juju’ in third with 19,300 viewers.
