The UK TV premiere of action-comedy, ‘Khiladi 786 starring Akshay Kumar and Asin proved a ratings winner for Rishtey last night.
According to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia, the film, which released last December at the box office, pulled in an average 101,300 viewers between 18:30 and 21:30 – peaking further to 150,900. The film came out on top of all the films that were broadcast during the weekend on any UK Asian TV channel.
‘Khiladi 786’ was no match though for ‘Nach Baliye 5’, which remained the UK’s most watched Asian show on Star Plus. It delivered an audience of 175,600 last night – peaking further at 279,100.
In third place came ‘Arjun’, which airs Saturday-Sundays at 20:00 on Star Plus. The crime thriller show got the channel 98,000 viewers.
‘Shaitaan’ on Rishtey at 21:30 was boosted with the help of ‘Khiladi 786’ – the show came on straight after the film. It pulled in 44,400 viewers.
The free TV premiere of ‘Rowdy Rathore’ on UMP Movies, which was previously only shown on Sony MAX, did well for the channel too. It got 36,000 viewers at 21:00 last night – peaking at 134,800 viewers.
‘Two To Tango’ at 18:00 on Zing was the channel’s most watched show with 33,900 viewers. The movie ‘Ishq’ starring Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla got an average 21,000 viewers and ‘Brits Bollywood’ at 11:30 rated zero.
