Overnights: ‘Kaali’ UK ratings continue to plummet

'Kaali' starts off slow on Star Plus
'Kaali' starts off slow on Star Plus

Star Plus’ recently launched drama ‘Kaali’ continues to under perform. While the dark social drama has a much more hard hitting storyline compared to the others on the channel, ‘Kaali’ has failed to spark any connection with viewers.

‘Kaali’ has not been able to make any headway since it replaced ‘Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon’ in the 20:00 weekday slot on Star Plus in early December. The show has rated as averaged at 130,000, compared to the over 200,000 audience highs that its predecessor received.

According to exclusive UK viewing data for Friday night obtained by BizAsia from Attentional, ‘Kaali’ delivered an audience of 97,400 – the lowest audience for any show on the channel yesterday on Star Plus.

‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ was the most watched show last night on UK Asian TV with 145,300 – peaking at 163,100. It was followed by ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’, which managed to get 137,200. In third was ‘Saathiya’ with 135,800 at 19:00.

On Zing, its new drama ‘Cloud 9’ had a miniscule audience, which failed to register. It rated zero at 18:30 and 22:30. The show saw some reprieve on Thursday night though when it touched the best audience of the week with a 11,000 tuning in at 18:30. Consolidated data will give a clearer picture of the performance of ‘Cloud 9’ – details of which will become available next week.

On Rishtey, ‘Na Aana Is Des Laado’ pulled 43,200 in the 21:00 slot, while ‘Jeevan Satthi’ continues to do well for the channel at 20:00 with 38,500 and then ‘Bairi Piya’ at 20:30 got the channel a rating of 34,100.

Above data is an overnight rating and may change slightly after consolidated figures become available in seven days from BARB.
