'Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon' tops Star Life Ok ratings

Star TV UK’s experiment to re-run its hit show ‘Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon’ on Star Life Ok seems to be working a treat, according to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia.

The romantic saga of Arnav and Khushi, pulled in 29,800 viewers at 14:00 for the Hindi version – the best ratings since its launch on Monday. The show went on to beat other programmes that were airing at the same time on rival channels including Star Plus, which was broadcasting repeat of ‘Veera’ (600 viewers) and Rishtey with ‘Bani – Ishq Da Kalma’ grabbing just 2,300 viewers in the same slot.

It wasn’t all good news for the broadcaster, as ‘Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon’ English dubbed version is yet to make a mark after hovering around just 1,000 viewers since Monday in the 18:00 slot. Last night, the show mustered in 1,600 viewers.

While ‘Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon’ topped Star Life Ok’s ratings yesterday, ‘Savdhaan India’ was next with 24,600 viewers and ‘Devon Ka Dev Mahadev’ getting 21,800 viewers at 20:00.

On Star Plus, ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai’ was the most watched show with a decent 150,800 viewers – peaking at 175,800 viewers. It was followed by ‘SaraswatiChandra’ with 107,200 viewers and ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ with 94,900 viewers.

The others in the pecking order were ‘Veera’ (92,900), ‘Saathiya’ (86,400), ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ (68,600), ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ (58,400), ‘Ek Ghar Banaunga’ (43,000) and ‘Meri Bhabhi’ (33,600).

On Rishtey, ‘Bani – Ishq Da Kalma’ was top with 98,400 viewers, followed by ‘Jeevan Saathi’ next with 76,200 viewers and ‘Na Aana Iss Desh Laado’ with 68,800 viewers.

On Sony SAB TV, ‘BaalVeer’ was the most watched show with 39,200 viewers, followed by ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, which got 35,700 viewers and ‘Chidiyaghar’ next with 28,100 viewers.

On Zing, ‘Bollywood Life’ at 22:00 raked in 18,700 viewers, followed by repeat of ‘Brits Bollywood’ at 15:30 with 10,800 viewers and ‘Pure Bollywood’ at 16:00 with 7,700 viewers.
