The last-minute addition of ‘India’s Daughter’ to the BBC Four schedule last night brought in nearly 300,000 viewers at 22:00.

The one-hour long documentary, based on the gang-rape of Jyoti Singh in Delhi in 2012, was watched by 286,100 viewers – peaking at 333,300 viewers. BBC Four advanced the telecast of the documentary from its initial Sunday night schedule. There has been uproar in India over the documentary. The government banned any Indian television channel to telecast it.

The BBC said it has preponed the documentary ���given the intense level of interest in the Storyville film�۝, enabling viewers to ���see this incredibly powerful documentary at the earliest opportunity�۝.

Elsewhere, Star Plus continued to top the charts with ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ at 21:00 attracting 179,400 viewers – peaking at 231,400 viewers, followed by ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ at 19:30 with 160,200 viewers and ‘MasterChef India’ at 21:30 with 158,600 viewers.

On Colors, ‘Code Red’ dominated the channel’s ratings with 47,400 viewers, followed by ‘Swaragini’ at 21:30 with 42,600 viewers and ‘Shastri Sisters’ at 20:30 with 35,800 viewers.

On Rishtey, ‘Parichay’ took lead with 39,100 viewers, followed by ‘Laagi Tujhse Lagan’ at 19:30 with 37,700 viewers and ‘Meri Aashiqui’ at 20:30 with 36,900 viewers.

On Hum TV, ‘Parsa’ at 21:00 attracted 40,700 viewers, followed by ‘Alvida’ at 20:00 with 40,400 viewers.
