Overnights: ‘HSSH’ on &TV beats ‘Shaandaar’ premiere

With the festive season upon us, UK Asian TV networks are unleashing their biggest movie blockbusters to attract viewers.

According to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia for Sunday, this year’s biggest box office hit (so far) ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ at 11:30 on Star Plus drew 28,400 viewers – peaking at 47,900 viewers. This was the third outing for the film on the Star TV Network and continues to outdo opposition. The first HD screening of Bollywood modern day classic ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ also did well with 26,500 viewers at 16:00 on &TV. It peaked higher than ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ with 47,900 viewers for the Kabir Khan directorial and 59,800 viewers peak for the Rajshri blockbuster. &TV’s movie premieres are doing incredibly well. BizAsia reported yesterday that the Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel hit ‘Gadar Ek Prem Katha’ on Saturday afternoon delivered 41,300 viewers.

The UK television premiere of ‘Shaandaar’ starring Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt was shown twice on Colors yesterday with 23,400 viewers at 12:30 and a further 5,900 viewers at 15:30. The first telecast peaked with 37,300 viewers.

On Zing, film ‘Baadshaah’ starring Shah Rukh Khan and Twinkle Khanna raked in 15,400 viewers. Star Plus premiere ‘Bhaag Johnny’ at 14:30 registered 8,800 viewers. ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’ on &TV brought in 7,700 viewers at midday.
