Overnights: Geo News ahead of rivals in UK ratings
Geo News, which has recently joined an official audience measuring body, is somewhat outperforming its rival channels including ARY News.
According to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia, Geo News was well ahead of its rival channel in last night’s ratings during prime time. ‘Aapas Ki Baat’ at 20:05 drew 13,200 vewers, ‘Aaj Kamran Khan Kay Saath’ at 22:00 pulled in 17,400 viewers and ‘Geo World News’ at 20:00 getting around 4,400 viewers. ARY News’ biggest ratings puller during primetime was ‘Kahay Faqir’ at 19:05 got 6,200 viewers.
Earlier in the week, both channels have remained on par in ratings but the battle is set to intensify this week as each broadcaster turns up the heat and up their marketing initiatives. ARY News has had an edge over Geo News in the ratings during daytime for most of this week.
On Star Plus, ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ was the biggest ratings success last night with 196,900 viewers, followed by ‘SaraswatiChandra’ with 177,400 viewers and ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai’ with 174,000 was in third.
The others in the pecking order were ‘Meri Bhabhi’ (133,700), ‘Saathiya’ (131,000), ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ (114,000), ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ (103,800), ‘Veera’ (100,200), ‘Ek Ghar Banaunga’ (75,600) and ‘Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon 2’ (51,800).
On Colors, ‘Uttaran’ was on top in the ratings on the channel with 26,900 viewers, followed by ‘Balika Vadhu’ (repeat) got 23,000 and ‘Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha 2’ was third with 19,500 viewers.
On Rishtey, ‘Bani – Ishq Da Kalma’ was on top of the ratings on the channel with 75,800 viewers, followed by ‘Na Aana Iss Desh Laado’ with 71,800 viewers and ‘Laagi Tujhse Lagan’ in third with 67,400 viewers.
On Star Life Ok, ‘Geet’ (re-run) was on top of the channel with 24,700 viewers, followed by ‘Gustakh Dil’ with 17,200 viewers and ‘Savdhaan India’ in third with 16,200 viewers.
