Overnights: ‘Ek Ghar Banaunga’ thrashes old rivals

'Ek Ghar Banaunga' continues to do well for Star Plus

Star Plus’ experiment of extending its primetime to 18:30 is working a treat after its new show ‘Ek Ghar Banaunga’ consistently delivered large viewership – enough to beat some old rivals.

According to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia for last night, ‘Ek Ghar Banaunga’ got 83,000 viewers at 18:30 – peaking at 97,800 viewers. It beat some of the longer running shows including ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ (51,700), ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ (58,300) and ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ (56,800). It also beat off competition on rival channel, Rishtey in most evening slots yesterday.

On Star Plus, the biggest driver was ‘SaraswatiChandra’ with 149,000 viewers, followed by ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai’ (122,700), ‘Veera’ (116,300), ‘Saathiya’ (102,200) and ‘Meri Bhabhi’ (86,300).

On Rishtey, ‘Jeevan Saathi’ was the biggest ratings winner with 70,800 viewers, followed by ‘Bani – Ishq Da Kalma’ with 51,700 viewers and ‘Bairi Piya’ was third with 34,300 viewers.

On Star Life Ok, ‘Devon Ka Dev Mahadev’ was the leading show with 18,300 viewers, followed by ‘Savdhaan India’ with 11,200 viewers and ‘Amrit Manthan’ with 9,200 viewers. The re-run series of ‘Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon’ got 4,900 viewers for the Hindi episode at 14:00 and just 600 viewers at 18:00 for the English dubbed edition.

On Zing, recently launched show ‘Grinds My Teeth’ was the biggest ratings winner with 17,400 viewers for the ten-minute episode at 19:30, followed by ‘Bollywood Business’ at 18:30 with 9,900 viewers.

On Sony SAB TV, ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ got 54,000 viewers at 20:30, followed by ‘BaalVeer’ at 20:00 with 49,000 viewers and ‘Chidiyaghar’ next with 39,800 viewers.
